2018 12 20 Gossan Hill & CIT Bushland with MelbaShed

This was a walk from the car park next to the Emergency Services Centre, Bindubi St, Aranda through the Aranda Playing Fields, to the plaque re the establishment of Belconnen in 1966,  over Belconnen Way, along the edge of Gossan Hill, across Hayden Drive and around tracks between the CIT & Calvary Hospital and back to Gossan Hill to see the Red Ochre and the two large Cairns. This was a Melba Shed walk

10 walked. 8 of us met at the Shed by 8.00AM & drove to a Car Park along Bindubi St just south of the Emergency Services new facilities, where we met two more

Then we walked across Aranda playing fields to view the plaque re the establishment of Belconnen in 1966, then over the bridge across BelWay & up & around Gossan Hill NR & some of Bushland between CIT & Calvary Hospital.

We then returned to Gossan Hill, viewed the unusually marked gum tree (e mannifera or rossii), visited the sign about Gossan Hill, some red ochre nearby, then to the large cairns on top of Gossan Hill, then returned to the Car Park.

Then 8 of us went to the SCC at Jamison for final Christmas coffee & cake

We started the walk at 8.25AM and finished at 10.33AM, thus taking 2 hrs 8mins. The trip was a Easy-Medium Walk, of 7.2Km.

Walkers: Bob Salmond, Colin Fitzpatrick, David Ruthven, Drew McDonald, Ian Ruthven, John Marsh, Neville Viney, Peter Dunnet, Peter Coppin, Greg Hutchison.  Drivers: Drew, Neville, Bob, Peter D, Greg.
