Greg’s Walking & Historical Blog Home

This will mainly be about my walks over the years with emphasis on the more recent walks and special projects.

I will provide photos where possible and gpx/kml GPS files with relevant waypoints included.

I am still sorting out how I wish to display some information. I have started adding posts on many older historical walks or adventures. These will be mixed with current walks and some Melba Shed fortnightly (i.e. 2 weeks) walks around Canberra. I guess smart cookies might notice the blog layout index layout is different on the Walks Blog page accessed through the menu to the Blog Index view available through directly going to Yes that is true, however both access the same blog posts. One was built using Kadence and one with Elementor.  I will rationalise this eventually.

Please note that this site is in development to replace the old and ageing Actelan Dreamweaver basic site. I am gradually eliminating the old site.

I tried Zero theme (from Tesla Themes, but updating WordPress in Dec 2020 caused issues so I am now trying the Kadence theme and also using the Elementor Page Builder for pages and maybe a blog page.

Like many I have a huge pile of old 35mm slides covering trips around Australia and the world and some long walks I did when younger. I have started scanning some slides and even color and black & white negatives. Its a slow and long process.

Many of the walks described on this blog can be difficult, long and physically demanding for a fit and experienced person or party. Undertake them at your own risk.
