I led this walk with 5 walking. We met at Melba Shed and then drove in 2 cars to Kambah Pool upper parking area via William Hovell Dr, John Gorton Drive (through Molonglo), then Streeton Dr and Namatjira Dr through Weston Ck, and Kambah Pool Dr in Tuggeranong.

From 8.45AM we walked up to the start of the track to Casuarina Sands which was a mere 13.8Km. We trudged along stopping at a high viewing rock to check out a Geocache, then continued north to a bridge across a creek & took a side footpad down to the Murrumbidgee River

Returning we decided to not continue to a Lookout but returned to Kambah Pool. Getting to the start of the track we accidentally walked down the wrong road & had to detour through the bush to get back to the cars quickly. On the way back we came across a nice looking women dressed in unusual clothes. She only wanted to spout extreme christian wisdom to us all. We couldn’t get away from her as quickly as we wanted to. It was strange and a 100m before we debated the merits of Israel Foleau’s treatment after his christian rants. Around the next bend there is this women emulating Israel. Was she a ghost sent to haunt us?

We then drove some 3.8Km up the road & stopped on the wide verge & 3 of us walked up around & over McQuoids Hill. The scenery from the top were sensational with views to the Cotter Dam, north to Black Mountain, Woden, Mt Taylor, Coolman Ridge, & south to Urambi Hills & Tuggeranong, Mt Tennent & of course the Murrumbidgee Valley. On the top of McQuoids Hill we actually had a full 360deg view. Its one of the best views around. We returned to the cars about 12.43PM and we all went home.

John and Greg went to Rivett Shop along Bangalay Cres and visited the Weston Ck Mens Shed to get details of a shipping container they were filling to send to Bega Mens Shed. They are doing a great job as the south coast was hit hard in the bushfires of 2020. This will be their 3rd container. We also stopped at Rivet Shops for a coffee and found a nice cafe called Pitch Black Cafe. We will remember it for future reference as easy to find and access cafe around Weston have been hard to locate.
