I led this walk with 6 walking. We all met at the Shed by 8AM & from 8.08AM we walked down & under Copland Dr & then along the path along Ginninderra Ck, crossing over a bridge to walk along a footpad up to the walkway below Ginninderra Dam, before crossing Ginninderra Dr & walking back along the dam causeway path stopping to view some research staff catching, tagging & releasing fish.

We then continued around part of the lake before leaving it & walking under Coulter Drive & taking lane ways up to Florey shops for coffee, shakes & snacks at a pop up Cafe Cesars. In Aug 2020 – Cafe Cesars opened at Florey Shops. See them on Facebook. The original pop up coffee shop and cafe was Bolivars. Its been relaunched and improved as Cesars. Coffee was good. Lots of music from the tree behind the portal tables and chairs for the patrons. We had great service.

We then wound our way through the west side of Florey, under Ginninderra Dr & back to the Shed car park by 10.32AM.

Our resident arborist Ian de Plater, told us about the Eucalyptus mannifera, also known as brittle gum or widow maker. Its been planted next to the Light Rail. Ian found it along several Florey lanes. Ouch.

He also found that Florey is also infested with Privet (Ligustrum lucidum).

It was an Easy-Medium social walk of 7.5Km, taking 2hrs 24m incl the break

Walkers: Bob Salmond, Harry Angel, Ian de Platter, John Edge, Peter Coppin, Greg Hutchison
