2017 07 27 Aranda Bushland & Mt Painter with MelbaShed

I led this walk around Aranda Bushland to Mt Painter in Canberra, ACT with 5 of us walking. The weather was cold & foggy which added a mystical feeling to the scenery we passed through

5 walked. 3 of us met at Melba Shed by 9.00AM & then drove to parking spot on Bindubi St where we met 2 more. Then from around 9.25AM we walked around this little known Nature Reserve walking a variety of management trails, narrow tracks & some footpads & then headed across & visited Mt Painter & then returned to the cars on Bindubi St at 12.05PM.

The weather was initially quite foggy & cold, which cleared during the morning with the sun out by midday. Some of the scenery was enhanced by the mist & contrasted well with a burnt out section. We came across a basic shelter built we assumed by the local kids practising their survival skills. There were short climbs on Mt Painter & also on the Aranda Summit Trail. Brian Taylor who had been moving house & also was sick for a while rejoined us and used his skills with a NIKON D3100 camera to take some better pictures than we normally get.
