2017 05 25 Aranda Bushland
This was a 3 hour morning walk around a large part of Aranda Bushland Nature Reserve checking out tracks & footpads for potential future walks with Melba Shed. I have done this before but I found some new footpads, corrections to tracks and some older footpads no longer in use. There was also a section on the east side that was recently burnt for fuel reduction so was interesting to see the state of this area

This was an Easy-Medium walk of 8.4Km which took me just over 3 hrs which was indicative of checking and re gpsing some spots. The morning was cold and foggy but the walking was easy and OK. It was only 8deg C when I got back to the car at midday.

There was one young guy who I passed twice but seemed soemwhat challenged as he was walking through the bush screaming his head off when he was no where near me. He said he didn’t go to school but he sure looked around the right age for school. I saw three roos and one red neck wallaby all in the burnt out area. This was probably as the undergrowth had been recently burnt out allowing better vision in that area. So how do I know it was a red neck wallably. Well they are quite small and cute and have a dark near black strip down the top of their head. So why are they called red neck. They do have a small area of red fur on the side of their neck. You can see it if you are lucky to get close. See this album for some nice closeups of Red Neck Wallabies
