2017 06 15 Hall Circuilar Walk with MelbaShed
I led this walk around the village of Hall in the ACT with 11 of us walking. We met at Melba Shed by 9.00AM & drove in 3 cars to Hall where we parked & met 1 more & then walked from 9.20AM around Hall on a special trail built by the community of Hall. It offers a mixture of formal oval, native bushland, small village atmosphere & open paddocks with grazing horses, finishing with coffee in a friendly local cafe

11 walked. 10 of us (9 members & 1 wife) met at Shed by 9.00AM & then drove to Hall where we were met by one more. We parked in Gladstone St near the ‘The Wandering Goose’ cafe.
From 9.20AM we started by visiting the little Hall War Memorial which contains a real 25 pounder artillery piece, then walked down & across Hall Ck & then along the east bank through the Hall Showground events parking area until we could cross a little bridge & enter the showgrounds proper near the BNT camping area. Here we got a little lost leaving the grounds but quickly found the real track & then climbed over stile 1 & headed along its east portion before turning along its north section including seeing Canberra first real tram in a house on the corner with Victoria St.
Barbara then went back to the cafe while we finished the walk across the north & western section before finishing back at the Wandering Goose at 10.50am, after which we celebrated with coffee, milk shakes & cake for some. The cafe was warm & friendly with good service & great drinks & cakes, very welcome after the cold morning.

It was very cold & cloudy day but with no wind was good walking conditions. We started seeing several yellow tailed-black cookatoos chewing on the bottom bark of a gum, then several small black-blue-grey finchs, then mixing it with some horses at the horse paddocks.
The walk was Easy, distance was 4.2Km.
