This was a morning when two of us Melba Shed walkers got together and decided to walk around Mt Rogers with one of Bob Salmond’s extended Mt Rogers walks. He often walks Mt Rogers with several various options on routes.

We started around 8.32AM from Saville St in Melba walking up a steep path under Kingsford Smith Drive, to reach the circular path around Mt Rogers Nature Reserve.

We then proceeded north taking a large wide path down to the open space between Kuringa drive and the suburb of Fraser.

Soon near Brophy St we came upon a collection of really large rocks that looked like they had been placed there during the construction of the suburb. Bob and I stopped and took some pictures. These rocks in some cases were large and taller than us.

We continued down to join Tillyard Drive and then stopped to have coffee at the Fraser Primary School pop-up cafe. The lady was very personable and made good coffee. She had the smallest EFTPOS unit I have ever seen.

We then walked back up a well known lane way on the west side of Mt Rogers and walked around it anti-clockwise and then proceeded up to the top and then straight down again past the trig station and back to Saville St.

As usual there were great views from Gungahlin to the north to Mt Tennant to the south and Mt Ainslie to the east

We reached the car around 10.48AM thus taking about 2hrs 15mins. We did 6.8Km. This was an Easy-Medium walk.
