2017 09 01 Charnwood West Dunlop Cycle

On 1st Sep I cycled out to McDonald’s Charnwood & had coffee with Ted. I then continued west to the end of the road & then took a side road to the border & came back north along a horse trail that runs along the border

This was a 17.5km recce cycle out to McDonald’s Charnwood & had coffee with Ted who regularly stops there for his pensioner’s $2 breakfast. I then continued west to the end of the road and then took a side road to the border & came back north along a horse trail that runs along the border.

Horse Trail
NHT Dunlop from Jaramlee Gate

Out past West Dunlop I passed the Fassifern Pond, crossed Goromon Ponds Ck twice over deteriorating causeways, went right to the gate to the NSW property Jaramlee that is along the border, and came back along the National Horse Trail to Belconnen Pond to the north that is in Dunlop. I returned then back up Ginninderra Drive and also viewing the old unoccupied Fassifern Homestead. The aim aside form a nice cycle on a cool bracing sunny morning was to fins the missing link between the Dunlop Grasslands walk and the NHT along the border of West Macgregor to help with finalising a future walk for Melba Shed

I started at 9.12AM & finished at 11.08AM
